Computer Specification

Each ITC Student has access to a personalised on-line study facility within our Student Area, where course documents are uploaded and interactive teaching materials are available. To enrol on any ITC course it is essential that you have access to a computer (PC or MAC*) capable of supporting the following software and hardware. Internet access (broadband recommended) and a personal email address are also essential. 

Software Function Specification Downloads available from
Web browser Provides access to the internet so that you can access the Student Area and online resources. PC – choose from:
Internet Explorer ("IE") 6, 7, 8 or 9*; Firefox 3 or 4*;
MAC* – choose from: Firefox 3 or 4; Safari 3, 4 or 5;
Free upgrades available from software publishers’ websites
 
Adobe Acrobat Reader Allows you to read course materials uploaded to the Student Area as Adobe Portable Document Format (“PDF”) files. Download the version that your web browser will support from the website address opposite.

Microsoft Word

OpenOffice

Allows you to read and create Microsoft Word  Document ('DOC') files.

PC - Microsoft Word 97/2000/2003 or later editions (licensed software)/ Open Office (open source software which also requires Java)

MAC - Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 (licensed software)/ OpenOffice (open source software which also requires Java)

Macromedia Flash Delivers multimedia content
including some question types in our on-line testing software.

 *The Virtual Practitioner web-based learning resources, which form part of the course materials on ILEX Level 3 Units 9-17, are supported by IE6 and IE7, IE8 and IE9 when run in compatibility mode, and are not supported on MACs. 

** Students are required to produce a "DOC" format file if submitting study exercises or assignments electronically or by email.

*** For ILEX Level 3 Unit 16 and ILEX Level 6 Unit 22 Client Care Skills, you will need access to Windows Media Player 9 (or later editions) on either a PC or MAC platform.
