Use ITC training to retain your good staff

In business areas where work diminishes, shedding staff is often seen as the answer. However, redundancy can be painful for your business as well as the individuals who are affected by it.

There may be staff you want to retain because you have invested in them and they have the right attitudes and skills. Retraining can be an attractive alternative to redundancy where staff’s existing knowledge of your business could be allied with expertise in a new practice area.

Where speed is of the essence

Your staff can become familiar with a new area of law and associated procedures very quickly by selecting from our ILEX Level 3 courses in law and practice. Qualified staff requiring foundation knowledge in a new discipline might expect to complete the courses in two or three months, depending on the amount of study leave granted. If your staff study for the optional exam you can be confident that they will retain the knowledge attained.

Subjects that might be of interest include Family Law, Family Practice, Employment Law, Employment Practice or the Practice of Law for the Elderly Client.

Proficiency in selected practice areas – ITC Specialist Courses

These ITC Specialist Courses will help practitiioners to operate effectively in a specific practice area, such as personal injury litigation. Priced between £175 and £200, these courses can be completed in a matter of weeks, although they are valid for 12 months for maximum flexibility. ITC Specialist Courses do not form part of the ILEX qualification.

A selection of the courses has been endorsed by professional associations as being suitable for their members. They also attract CPD points (for legal executives and solicitors). The range of ITC Specialist Courses includes Claimant Personal Injury, Defendant Personal Injury, Insolvency and Debt Recovery and Mortgage Repossession.

For in-depth knowledge

For your experienced and/or qualified staff, our ILEX Level 6 courses are available in 21 law and practice subjects. Level 6 is approximately equivalent to honours-degree level in academic standard. You can be sure that your staff will acquire a thorough and current understanding in their chosen subject.

While these courses are valid for fifteen months, we would recommend that they are studied over a minimum six-month period. Solicitors’ CPD of 12 hours is available if the course is completed, even if the exam is not taken.

The range of subjects means that you can almost certainly select a subject which is suited to your business’s requirements. ILEX Level 6 subjects that are currently popular for redeploying staff include Employment Law; Family Law; Immigration Law; Law of Wills and Succession; Planning Law; The Practice of Family Law; The Practice of Employment Law and Probate Practice.
