Who is the course for?
This course is relevant:
- if you working towards an CILEx Level 3 qualification as indicated in the section below
- if you are a member of the public who would like to have a better understanding of the law relating to wills, inheritance or intestacy. You may wish to understand what your position is in relation to your partner's estate if you are married, cohabiting, separated or divorced, as well as the inheritance rights of children.
- if you are an unqualified member of staff or paralegal working in will-writing in a law firm or unregulated organisation then this is an ideal training course. We recommend that you should also study CILEx Level 3 Unit 1 Introduction to Law and Practice and CILEx Level 3 Unit 14 Probate Practice.
Level 3 is equivalent to A level in academic standard. We also offer the more advanced ILEX Level 6 Unit 14 Law of Wills and Succession which is at honours-degree level, and the LPC-level ILEX Level 6 Unit 21 Probate Practice. If you are working in the private client department of a law firm you might also be interested in ILEX Level 3 Unit 15 The Practice of Elderly Law for the Elderly Client.
What qualification will I get?
This course does not amount to a qualification on its own, although success in the unit does contribute seven credits to your learning record.
