This course will deliver detailed knowledge and skills to give you a good understanding of the Practice of Law for the Elderly Client and its application. CILEx Level 3 units were known as ILEX Level 3 units until recently. CILEx stands for the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives. It was known as the Institute of Legal Executives (ILEX) until the award of a Royal Charter in January 2012.
Who is the course for?
This course is relevant:
- if you are working towards an CILEx Level 3 qualification as indicated in the section below
- if you are an unqualifed member of staff or paralegal working in the private client department of a law firm this is an ideal training course. We recommend that you should also study CILEx Level 3 Unit 1 Introduction to Law and Practice and CILEx Level 3 Unit 8 Law of Wills and Succession.
- if you are a qualified member of staff working in, or wishing to switch to, the private client department of a law firm, this course teaches you how to draft a Lasting Power of Attorney, and when and how to register Enduring and Lasting Powers of Attorney.
- if you wish to become a student member of Solicitors for the Elderly you will study this as part of the CILEx Level 3 Certificate in Law and Practice referred to below.
Level 3 is the equivalent to A level in academic standard.
What qualification will I get?
This course does not amount to a qualification on its own, although success in the unit does contribute seven credits to your learning record. The unit can be used to contribute to the CILEx Level 3 Certificate in Law and Practice (Elderly Client Practice) or the CILEx Level 3 Professional Diploma in Law and Practice which are both listed on the national database of accredited qualifications for England and Wales.
