Courses for ILEX Level 6 law and practice units
This section covers the courses offered by ITC to prepare you for the exams and other assessments set by ILEX for the Level 6 units in law and practice. The course fee is £540 for a law unit and £570 for a practice unit. ITC offers courses for all ILEX Level 6 units, including the professional skills units. If you are using these units to qualify as a legal executive please read the section on how to qualify as a legal executive for advice on which units to study before making your course selection. Course content
All courses are written to deliver the ILEX syllabus for each unit, and are re-published annually to ensure the content is up to date. The table of contents for each of our Level 6 course manuals is available on the page titled 'Course manuals for ILEX exams'.
Course design
You can enrol on any course at any time of year. Each course is valid for fifteen months and you need to complete all the course study exercises within this period. The course is designed to allow you the maximum flexibility to study at your pace, but with all the support and resources that you need to ensure you keep up your momentum. Each unit will typically take 190 hours to complete including studying and revision. You can decide how you will allocate that time according to your other commitments.
Academic and administrative support
Most students choose to attend an Induction Day. This is a great opportunity to meet other students and an academic member of the ITC team. You will be introduced to the course and learn how to approach advanced legal study.
On-course support is available from our Academic Team by telephone during office hours, and our designated tutors on course Forums are on hand to help you with course queries. The Forums are hosted in our on-line Student Area which is the hub of your studies. You will be part of a ‘learning community’, so you will never feel isolated or that you are on your own.
Your course includes a face-to-face revision day, subject to payment of a £10 booking fee to secure your selected date and location. We run revision programmes in advance of each set of ILEX exam sittings, and you will be able to take up your revision day entitlement during any programme that falls within the fifteen-month period of validity of your course.

| Study Exercises |
The five study exercises are key teaching materials for your law and practice units. The study exercise questions are structured to help you understand the syllabus content and are marked by your personal tutor. They teach you to apply the the knowledge gained through reading the course manual and are an excellent preparation for answering questions in the exam. |

Membership of ILEX
To be eligible to sit an ILEX Level 6 exam you must either:
- register as a member with ILEX, and pay the annual membership fee, or
- pay an additional non-member's fee when you register for your exam.
It is essential to register as a member with ILEX if you are working towards the ILEX Level 6 Professional Higher Diploma in Law and Practice or the ILEX Graduate Fast-track Diploma. The membership fee payable depends on the relevant membership level. Please contact ILEX on 01234 841000 and ask for the Membership Department.
If you are studying for an ILEX Level 6 Single Subject Certificate you do not require to become a member of ILEX but an additional non-member's exam fee will be payable.
Assessment
Each ILEX Level 6 law and practice unit is examined by an unseen exam. An exam fee is payable for each exam you enter. Key dates and current exam fees are available here. Administrative arrangements are explained in your Unit Guide. The exam fee for an ITC student to sit an ILEX Level 6 law or practice unit in the January 2012 and June 2012 exam session is £96, if you are a member of ILEX. The non-member's fee is an additional £40.
