Paralegal Courses

The term paralegal is used for many differing roles within the legal world, and our range of options reflects that diversity, ranging from the equivalent of GCSE-level study to postgraduate level.

You may wish to refer to the page titled 'What is a paralegal?' to assist you in selecting the best course for you.

Select a course to suit your current experience and your aspirations

  • ILEX Level 3 Certificates in Law and Practice -  this is the paralegal qualification that we would recommend for all non-qualified support staff who wish to consolidate their current knowledge or move into fee earning.
  • City & Guilds/ILEX Level 2 Certificate in Legal Studies -  set at approximately GCSE level and appropriate for support staff who  wish to gain background knowledge. Ideal if you have no current formal qualifications or to build confidence before moving on to an ILEX Level 3 Certificate in Law and Practice if you have not studied for a long time.
  • ITC Specialist Courses - these courses have been developed to build on the ILEX Level 3 syllabus in selected practice areas including Mortgage Repossession, Insolvency and Debt Recovery, Claimant Personal Injury and Defendant Personal Injury.
  • An  ILEX Level 6 Single Subject Certificate is ideal if you have already studied law at either A level or degree level. These advanced courses are ideal for law graduates to gain in-depth knowledge in a particular area of legal practice, or for qualified staff who wish to study, or refresh their knowledge of, a particular area of law due to a career move to a new practice area.
